Sarahjean Adolphus

Founder & Executive Director

Sarahjean embodies resilience and leadership. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication and multifaceted skill set. Despite significant personal challenges, she has managed to build and lead an organization that reflects her values and aspirations. Starting an NPO is no small feat, but Sarahjean did so while managing her health at the Mayo Clinic. With a commitment of 40+ hours a week dedicated to her medical appointments and treatments, she skillfully balanced her personal health with her professional responsibilities. This speaks volumes about her determination and ability to manage multiple priorities. Sarahjean's journey is an inspiration to many. This highlights her resilience, adaptability, and leadership. Her ability to juggle personal health challenges while building a successful organization is a true testament to her strength and dedication. She not only leads with vision but also with compassion, making a profound impact in the community she serves.

James Joshua

Secretary

James, has been successfully running his own company since 1978. With decades of experience under his belt, he has honed his skills in business management, strategic planning, and leadership. His extensive background provides him with the insight necessary to influence and guide program design and evaluation effectively. James's deep understanding of business operations and strategic planning makes him an invaluable asset in shaping program design. His approach ensures that interventions are not only innovative but also practical and sustainable. By applying his knowledge, he can help create programs that are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals. One of James's key areas of focus is ensuring that programs are tailored to meet the needs of the chronically ill. His expertise enables him to design interventions that are empathetic and patient-centered, addressing the unique challenges faced by this population. 

Adam Brostowitz

Program & Organizational Development
Fundraising

An educator turned nonprofit leader, Adam Brostowitz currently serves as the director of transitional housing for a domestic violence shelter. His past experience includes being a teacher and school counselor for a number of years. In addition to his professional role, Adam is an adult with cystic fibrosis and a bilateral lung transplant recipient. He has been asked to be a peer support mentor, lead support groups, and participate on review committees for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other organizations. Adam is currently a Board member of a runaway youth shelter and also volunteers with providing lessons for veterans and children with disabilities through an equine therapeutic riding center.

Crystal Bonner

Marketing & Communications
Event Planning

Crystal Perkins-Bonner has always had a strong desire for helping all people in need and freely giving of herself. She finds delight in taking on new challenges.

She is recently retired from an HBCU where she served as the Administrative Manager/Board Liaison of the University's Foundation Board of Trustees. In this role she developed and implemented policies to ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Monitored financial performance of organization, including preparation of annual budgets for board approval. Reviewed progress reports to assess effectiveness of current initiatives and operations. Actively engaged in fundraising efforts to support ongoing operations and new initiatives. Assisted with special fundraising events, i.e. President’s Annual Scholarship Gala resulting in $14M in scholarships. Mrs. Perkins-Bonner currently serves as a Board of Dirctor at the Wendel D. Ley YMCA in Northeast Harris County where she is instrumental in community engagement.

LaTashia Ogunlana

Treasurer & Bookkeeper

LaTashia C. Satterfield Ogunlana is an entrepreneur who is analytical, logical and objectively critical.  These skills allow her to be decisive, clear and assertive in combination with being a conceptual and global thinker, who is innovative in her theories and planning.

The above skills have afforded her the opportunity to spend time in international field offices to assess and implement new strategies related to governance, human resources, financial management and procedural upgrades.  LaTashia has over 5 years of field office experience to include financial and enterprise system implementation and training, audit management, CFO, interim Director of Finance, Interim Deputy Chief of Party and compliance training and internal audit management. She has participated in writing various proposals for USAID, Department of State, World Bank/Global Funds, Department of Education and private foundations.

LaTashia has managed over 600 million US dollars in USAID funding, over 10 million in World Bank/Global Funds, 35 million in Gates Foundation funding, National Institute of Health, and millions in grants from US Department of Education and Department of Labor.  She saved the US government over 300 million while working to shut down two Department of Transportation projects in 2003.  She worked as one of about 20 staffers at the Bush Clinton Katrina Fund in 2006.  She held the position of President for the Nation’s Capital Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants until June 2024.

LaTashia was ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2004.  She preaches and presents workshops in the areas of self-esteem; female issues; Womanism, relationships and sex education, finances, and African culture and religion.  She has presented workshops for youth and adults in order to furnish tools to enhance them spiritually, physically, and emotionally.  Rev. Satterfield has traveled to Africa, where she preached and taught in a Bible College.

Rev. Satterfield has preached and presented workshops at the Dr. Jazz Ministries Galentine 2022, Christian Connections for International Health (CCIH) 2012 Conference, during the National Forum for Black Public Administrators at the 2012 Awards Gala, at the African American Family Reunion Conference, and at the New Light Leadership Coalition, Inc. (NLLC) Conference.  She was the Chief Financial Officer and board member for NLLC, a youth organized and operated non-profit that promotes youth leadership.  She was Treasurer for Tearfund USA Board of Directors. Rev. Satterfield is active in the church and her community.

Her educational training in Catholic elementary and secondary schools enabled her to pursue a Master of Divinity at Virginia Union University Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology after completing her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.  In February 2011, she earned an Associate Certificate in Project Management from ESI & George Washington University.  May 2021, she earned an IMA Data Analytics & Visualization Fundamentals Certificate.

Alicia Vargo

Committee

Leadership comes second nature to Alicia. Whether she is chairing a meeting or leading a project, she has learned how to make informed decisions that align with any mission she has a passion for. She served with the Conservation Corp in an Elite Program in both Russia and Australia which allowed her to expend her skills and build on cultural differences and communication.  Alicia served with the AmeriCorps for 6 months, received her EMT and CNA certification. Delegating tasks effectively has taught her the importance of trusting her teammates, and strategic planning has sharpened her ability to think clearly. While active listening has helped Alicia address the needs and concerns of others more effectively. Teamwork and collaboration are at the heart of what she does. She also served with the Navy Military for 4 years which often presents complex challenges. From that she learned to analyze issues, creative solutions, and evaluate the outcome. Serving on a nonprofit committee is not just about giving back; it's about growing in ways she never anticipated. 

Patty Westcott, RN

Committee

Passionate people person , professional nurse since 1985 serving in elderly and community care . Registered nurse since 2008 , serving and focusing on patients with chronic illness in rheumatology and other auto immune diseases . Credentialed in IV Care in 2019 . She attend conferences to stay current on new drug therapies and approaches to managing chronic illness and she advocate for those living with chronic disease by reading literature sponsored by certain foundations such as IDF Immune Deficiency Foundation . 

Patty was inspired to join efforts to relieve suffering of those with chronic and terminal illness . She volunteers with the Redcross in Disaster Relief Services , helping replace lost or damaged medical needs in disaster events . Patty has capable skills of listening and understanding as a nurse , wife and mother .
